of modern family life is that even when people
receive time off, they do not always receive it together.

One parent is working.

The other is free.

The children are to actually live together.

Enough overlap for children to see their parents as full human beings
rather than people constantly arriving from somewhere or preparing to leave again.

Permission Is Not Ownership

Another strange part of modern work is that adults often need permission
to use large parts of their own year.

They request leave.

They wait for approval.

They negotiate dates.

They are told which weeks are busy.

They are told which months are blocked.

They are life before any employer grants
them back.

Yet the system treats rest as something returned in small amounts
after enough labor.

A person can work for months and then ask another adult:

Can I have two weeks of my year?

That should sound strange.

Bills Own Time Too

Employers are not the only ones controlling time.

Money obligations do it too.

A person may want to stop working for three months.

But rent continues.

Food costs continue.

Transport costs continue.

Debt payments continue.

School costs continue.

Insurance continues.

Utilities continue.

So even when nobody directly says, “You are not allowed to rest,”
the financial structure says it for them.

Keep producing.
Keep earning.
Keep moving.

The person may legally have the right to stop.

But the consequences make stopping impossible.

That is why time ownership and money gatekeeping are tied together.

If survival depends on continuous income, then long rest becomes dangerous.

What Is the Point of Greater
