Look at political systems that measure success through employment,
production, consumption and growth while family life is expected to somehow
arrange itself around those priorities. Look at media that repeatedly sells the
professional woman back to you as the picture of advancement. Look at employers
who gladly accept your best hours because that is what institutions do when
    people keep offering them.

None of these systems has to hate you personally to damage your family life.
That is almost beside the point. They do not have to know your husband’s name,
know your children, understand how tired you are or care what kind of marriage
you are trying to build. Yet their policies, schedules, incentives and
expectations reach directly into your household and shape what kind of life
    becomes possible there.

Because the system is large and abstract while your family is standing right in
front of you, the family becomes easier to blame. That is what I want to interrupt.

The Kindness

At Least Stop Blaming the Wrong People.

If you are tired, be tired. But do not take all of that disappointment
and lay it at the feet of your husband because marriage still asks something of
    you.
