Descriptions:
This video presents an example of Kids’ cultural immersion activities in the land of Brazil. It can also be seen as another way for a foreigner to get a sense of a country and its people.
As part of their world schooling of Keilah and Kaleeyon, these Kids’ cultural immersion activities get discovered organically in our travels.
One day Keilah said to us
“ Daddy, I want to see what school is like. Can I go play there?”
We responded, “ Are you sure baby?”
Mommy responded, “You will have to wake up early every morning, and you won’t get to see us until Midday”.
At first, Sher was reticent about sending her to a school. Sher did not want anybody trying to teach Keilah any fuckery about gay /lesbian relationships, transgender or man-hating feminism etc which is prevalent in Sao Paulo, Brazil. As a matter of fact, Sher wrote a whole article about Schools being Fucked up. However, after some calming perspective from her hubby KB and her daughter, Sher agreed.
In summary, KB simply said,
” We have spent over five years raising our daughter with solid thinking, no one can creep in and put any confusion in her head. Most importantly my wife, our relationship with her is so tight that she will ask us about anything that she doesn’t understand. Just look at this experience as a cultural immersion, language learning, and listening skills improvement kind of an exercise. Plus she doesn’t have to go every day if she doesn’t want to and it’s only for half of the day. By Midday she is back with us, You and Kaleeyon won’t even have time to miss her. Ok, babes...”
Then Sher said to KB,
” OK Daddy, Sounds good. ”
Kids’ cultural immersion activities:
After two months of “schooling” or as Sher coins it, “Kids’ cultural immersion activities”, Sher can clearly see the benefits of listening to her daughter and husband on.
Keilah is holding much better conversations in Portuguese with her Daddy, She will ask randomly what some words or phrases mean, especially words that her teacher uses often. This particular school in Brazil concentrates on creative activities that involve doing art so for the most part she doesn’t feel isolated. For some reason too, kids can overcome language barriers between each other much more easily. Through pointing, gesticulations, taking each other’s hands, and the intangible cues of sincerity and insincerity, Keilah understands her classmates. There is learning beyond picking up the Portuguese language that’s happening at school. For example, out of the blue, one day after class was over, Keilah said to her Dad,
“ Daddy, My friend Mingkuk in South Korea is like a little fish in a fish tank, my friends in Brazil are like fish in an aquarium, but I’m like a fish in the whole ocean.”
Sher and KB understood her analogy right away but were much more awed that she was able to articulate such thoughts so well.

Wow, now I understand what you mean by world schooling. I thought it was a topic at school but you literally mean schooling your kids by traveling the world.
