Started Solar Company

I started my solar installation business while working at the Wigton Windfarm as a Wind Turbine Engineer. 

What started out with on the side, after work and weekend jobs quickly became my main income earner.

As a result my wife and I left our jobs to grow our company Kimroy Bailey Renewables Ltd.  We currently employ 5 persons in wind and solar system installations. 

Solar Training

While working at the Wigton Windfarm I had the privilege of training college students on solar installations and the operation of the 12kW grid tie solar system installed at the Wigton Windfarm.

The students communicated that cost effective training options online are almost none existent. Current online solar programs  either cost over $1,000 or require attendance to a physical institution or require tons of reading to solar literature.

After overcoming my first embarrassing solar installation I slowly grew my business. I have had the great opportunity of employing and training numerous individuals while operating my solar company.

My name is Kimroy Bailey and my very first solo solar panel system installation resulted in a system malfunction that cost me over $3,000 for an inverter replacement. And the funny thing is- I actually did everything right. (My solar panels were facing the right direction, my battery bank was well calculated and my inverter properly installed.)

One tiny mistake…

But one tiny mistake on my end that nobody (on YouTube, Solar Forums or on Solar Websites) warned me about.

That an Off Grid system MUST have its own electrical subpanel unless the inverter is able to power ALL the Appliances in the home ALL the time. 

This sunk the whole thing in one millisecond because the moment the air conditioning unit came on the inverter started stuttering and the power stopped flowing and the entire house was pitch black!

If you’ve ever attempted a complete solar system installation yourself (or listened closely to the struggles of solar entrepreneurs), then you’ll know that the horror show isn’t so far off from the typical solar installation experience.

I'M FINE, I WILL LEARN SOLAR INSTALLATION FROM YOUTUBE VIDEOS AND WHATEVER I CAN FIND ONLINE

From my own personal experience, online material was lacking in 2 areas: Correlatio and, Supporting Documents 

Correlation: I would watch a video on solar panels here, then another on batteries there and a few on the inverter somewhere else but NEVER found an in depth guide that connect ALL the pieces together.

Additionally, when I do find a comprehensive video there is no supporting materials, so questions like: why choose that panel, why connect the panels in series and not parralel, why use 8 batteries and not 4 and why?… and why?… and why?…
