It depends. When solar panels are connected in series if something happens to one panel in the series the entire series is affected such as if a shadow is cast on one of the solar panels while for panels in parallel if a shadow is cast on one of the panel nothing happens to the others but the good thing about solar connected in series is that the current increases and the voltage stays the same.
