The documentary shows the techniques employed to find different organizations and/or government services to help them with housing or a hot meal while they focus on growing their business. As native English speakers, surviving Brazil’s business scene was particularly difficult and the few online materials in English also didn’t make it easier to operate a successful business.
The 2-hour real-life Movie will showcase Brazil’s unknown prowess as a country of choice for entrepreneurs to come and continue their business. Brazil is a large country that has surprisingly excellent policies for entrepreneurs to migrate and continue their businesses in a regularized and legal manner, especially in the Visual Arts and Culture industries.

Here is a breakdown of a series of activities that will be undertaken to achieve the goals of this project Creation – We will create a documentary that shows the migration story of the Trott Bailey family and how Sherika was able to create multiple fashion pieces and notable architectural designs. We will also create a documentary film that will tell the story of how Sherika and her family came to Brazil with no money after living in South Korea for 3 years and were able to open a MEI, design real fashion, partner with local Brazilian talent to give life to your fashion pieces.

The documentary will also show how the family was supported by several Brazilian agencies, such as CRAS, CRAI, UNHCR and Missão do Paz, who collectively helped Sherika and the Trott Bailey family with housing after they arrived in Brazil and could not afford to rent an apartment. The input and training provided by Sebrae in providing additional information on how to navigate Brazil’s small business landscape will also be featured in the documentary. The success story of Brazilian support initiative programs such as Bolsa Família Inovação, which helps families with money on a monthly basis to operate an innovation business. With very few resources at Sherika’s disposal, she was able to cover the expenses of operating her family’s social media, online university, and digital abundance points award platform.

We intend to use the resources from this project to create a course adapted for Refugees or migrants who may be interested in moving to Brazil and how to start a successful business in the artistic field. Students will be able to earn Abundance Points by completing each course lesson, assignment, and test.
Research and Reflection – The documentary researches the feasibility of a refugee choosing Brazil as the country of choice to migrate and start or continue their business. The documentary will show our discoveries firsthand and reflect on what the process was like for us to operate a business centered on visual arts and culture as refugees.
Residency and Exchange – As migrants, this category perfectly corresponds to our 8-month journey of migration and starting a profitable business in Brazil. We also exchange our know-how and bring our international expertise in exchange for cultural immersion in the Brazilian economy.
