GOVERNANCE, TRUST, AND WELCOMECHAPTER 42

One Ruling Family, One Visible Responsibility

Sher and I have led our family and its work together since the first week of our marriage. We make decisions, live with their consequences, examine the results and keep adjusting. The governance proposal for our civilization grows from that experience of continuous, visible responsibility. If a system fails to serve a family, someone should have the authority and obligation to correct it promptly.

We author a civilization ruled by one founding ruling family, with stewardship exercised through capable people and teams. The head of responsibility is identifiable. Citizens can bring evidence of failure and abuse. Serious claims receive examination, rights remain protected and correction follows the facts. We do not want responsibility scattered through so many committees that a parent has no idea who can solve a real problem.

The ruler’s task is practical: keep food accessible, neighbourhoods healthy, transport functioning, families protected, institutions accountable and capable people supported. It takes systems thinking and an appetite for receiving evidence that a particular design did not work. Sher has taught me that the best large vision becomes valuable when someone attends to the smallest inconvenient detail.

Authority earns its importance through what it produces for life. That is the standard we intend to live under as well as lead.
