Our Turkish season settled one question forever. Life can be beautiful for a whole day, and a whole week, and a whole season. We had time to walk through Alanya, swim in the Mediterranean, try bread and cheese, meet people who spoke five different languages in one café and play table tennis until our competitive streaks made us laugh. We saw what happens to a marriage when husband and wife have room to enjoy being alive together.
Many people we met there had travelled for a few precious days before returning to work. They could afford the flight or hotel, yet time itself remained scarce. Our civilization places beauty and delight inside the living schedule. Shubaka contribution includes restoration. Public places, coastal promenades, shaded orchards, relief courts, music, play, swimming and conversation form part of the infrastructure of wellbeing.
The environments must have their own species. A public route can carry fruit trees, seating, water movement, transport and child play without becoming a conventional asphalt corridor. A coastal relief court can draw the family close to water while protecting children and the land. A winter garden can make the cold season beautiful, with food, warmth and leisure living together. Each place has its own character, and the people who live there are allowed to delight in it.
We have no intention of building a civilization that promises abundance and then turns every adult into a permanently busy maintenance worker. The proof of a great system is the free afternoon it gives back.
