WE TOOK CONTROL OF OUR STORYCHAPTER 52

The Jamaican Story That Would Not Stay in 2019

In February 2019 Jamaican newspapers published reports saying police wished to speak with Kimroy and Sherika in connection with a fraud investigation. The reporting arrived after we had left the country and created a public association between our names and a criminal allegation. We objected to the way the headlines framed the story, to the suggestion connecting our business to Black Market Ja and to the lack of our perspective in the coverage.

We had already built a public engineering record in Jamaica, complete with technical research, work with schools and national recognition. Later we built other public records in Turkey, Korea and Brazil. The old headlines nevertheless remained easy to find. We wanted a clear current account of what the police had established and a fair editorial review of the way our names had been presented.

Our written requests to Jamaican officials and publishers continued through 2025 and 2026. We wrote to the Office of the Prime Minister, the police and editorial desks asking for public clarification and correction. An acknowledgment is not the same thing as an answer to a substantive question. The public record has not yet delivered the resolution we requested.

We kept authoring. The children grew, the websites grew, the fields in Prado produced, software releases appeared and collaborators became interested. We could spend our lives asking old media to tell more of our story, or we could keep producing the story ourselves. We chose to produce it, and it has become one of our greatest strengths.
